United Launch Alliance

United Launch Alliance (ULA) is an American launch service provider formed in December 2006 as a 50/50 joint venture between Lockheed Martin Space and Boeing Defense, Space & Security. The venture combined Lockheed Martin's Atlas V program with Boeing's Delta rocket family, consolidating US expendable launch operations for national-security, civil and commercial payloads.

ULA's flagship vehicles are the long-serving Atlas V and the Delta family (including the heavy-lift Delta IV Heavy), now succeeded by the next-generation Vulcan Centaur. Vulcan, powered by Blue Origin BE-4 engines, was developed to replace both Atlas and Delta and completed its maiden flight in January 2024.

ULA remains an active launch provider as of 2026, headquartered in Centennial, Colorado, and continues to fly Vulcan and remaining Atlas V missions for the US Space Force, NASA and commercial customers. The Delta family was fully retired in 2024, and Boeing and Lockheed Martin have explored selling the company, though no sale had closed as of 2025.
